1Haccho Main Street
A shopping street that has history dating all the way back from the Azuchi-Momoyama period to the present.
2Ryugen-ji Temple Pagoda
One of only two wooden pagodas built in Kyushu during the Edo Period (1858). The sight of the Jaki supporting the tower on all 4 sides is a must-see.
3Usuki Stone Buddhas
The Usuki Stone Buddhas are said to have been carved over a period of time from the end of the Heian period to the Kamakura Period.
In 1995, 59 of these statues were selected as National Treasures of Japan, the first stone Buddhas to be designated as such.
4Yoshimaru Kazumasa Memorial Museum
A memorial museum dedicated to Yoshimaru Kazumasa, the famous composer of the song "Soshunfu" (Ode to the Early Spring). Yoshimaru was the teacher of Ryunosuke Akutagawa, and was responsible for raising many musicians such as Kosaku Yamada.
